Sea, Glass & Sand Blog Hop

Hello, hello, hello & welcome to the Sea, Glass & Sand Blog Hop hosted by the very lovely Suzy.

You should have found your way here from Dee’s blog Paper Mischief, if you have just popped in to say hi to me, then hi right back at you, glad to see you & of course you’re very welcome too, but you may want to go to the start of the blog hop at Suzys blog ***winks***

Today I’d like to share a scrapbook layout about little perfect moments, snapshots, totally insignificant bits of life that would have gone unnoticed had you not had a camera in your hand at that moment,

little perfect moments

If you’re already one of my lovely blog followers, you’ll know that scrapping the small stuff is a big thing in my crafting, I love it, it’s also great for when there isn’t necessarily a story to go along with a photo, like the photo on this page, there’s no story, just a Daddy & Daughter moment between Hubs & DD, no special occasion, nothing interesting happening, just watering the flowers in the garden – together, and it’s that that makes the photo special to me, the togetherness, spending time together doing something totally ordinary. Perfect.

The layout was created using a Quirky Kit, I ripped strips of patterned paper in varying lengths & widths, inked the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink then arranged them on the page, & carried on fiddling with them & the photo until I was happy with it.  I added some journaling onto a speech bubble cut out from the patterned paper & attached it with 3d foam pads, I inked some paper flowers & attached them with brads. Finally I added Thickers & alpha tiles for the title.

Now here’s the extra fun bit, there are prizes, I have 3 of my Elements & Embellishments kits up for grabs…..

prize for Suzys blog hop

I have a Summer Sunshine mini kit , Tropical Tango kit & Sea Mist embellishment pack to giveaway to one lucky hopper who comments on all of the posts featured in the hop, you have until Midnight Thursdy 23rd May to enter & winners will be announced on Friday 24th may

Well thanks for hopping by today it’s been lovely to see you & hope you pop in again soon. If you’re taking part in the hop you now want to make your way over to Lesleys blog aka Lelly’s Crafty Stuff to continue hopping along.

Take care & see you soon

Scrapbooking – Small

Hello there, how’s it going? Just a quick post from me tonight, the Hubs cooking tea, DD is in bed & Destructo Dog aka Bailey isn’t trying to eat me or the house…for now :D

Every time I came across this photo in my huge pile of photos waiting to star on a scrapbook page, it always struck me how little my DD looked in the photo, she wasn’t exceptionally small at that age (3). She was just walking about halfway down a very big garden & I was at the other end with my camera. But, still she looked little & small & vulnerable, a tiny person trying to find her way in a really big world, and that is entirely where this layout came from…

Small

I love the layered look & have used some left over bits of patterned paper to add a few layers, I ripped all the edges on the patterned papers & inked them with Black Soot Distress Ink, to make them stand out more against the vibrant pink cardstock, I also chose fairly neutral papers for the rest of the layout based on the pinkness of the cardstock. (is pinkness a word? if not, why not?) All of the papers are from a Quirky Kit

I’ve added some silver star punchinella or sequin waste – whichever you prefer :D on either side of the layout, just a little, the edges are hiding under the patterned paper. As the majority of the photo is green grass with only a small portion of the photo having anything interesting on I decided to put my title on the photo as it draws the eye in DD’s direction. The journaling reads…

Small close up

Just in case you’re having trouble reading that I’ll translate (Mum says my writing is awful & she can’t read it… it makes perfect sense to me lol)…

You looked so small walking in the garden by yourself, it made me want to scoop you up & hug you forever… it’s such a big world when you’re a very small girl.

There is another reason I’m glad I scrapped this photo & chose that particular memory, one day she’ll be a teenager, she’ll be too cool to hold her mums hand, she’ll know it all and she’ll always be right (erm, this sounds familiar) but this will remind me that once she was little & she would hold my hand voluntarily.

Well that’s all from me for tonight, thanks for stopping by, it’s been lovely to see you & thanks for taking the time to leave lovely comments, it always makes my day.

Take care & hope to see you soon.

A Trio Of Tags

Hey, hey, hey, how’s it going? It’s Sunday & it’s chucking it down with rain…again! I’ve taken the dog for the final walk of the day (I’m not going out again in this) so I’ve had a lovely hot bubble bath & am currently slurping my way down a bottle of Lucozade trying to beat the urge to snooze which has come over me.

I’ve got another one of my projects from the Sarah Hurley Lookbook (Volume 3) to share today,  a trio of altered tags….

tags

I’m not normally a tag altering person, but I really really wanted to play with Sarah’s new stamp sets & I didn’t have any project in particular in mind so I grabbed a few manilla luggage tags & went from there. I sprayed inks & a little water onto my craft mat & smooshed each tag in  different colours. Then I ran each one through my Sizzix machine in a different embossing folder. I swiped a little Black Soot Distress Ink over the top to pick up on the texture, then rubbed some glittery stickles into each one.

I used Sarah’s Be Amazing, Dream a Little Dream & Wish Upon a Star stamp sets. The girls have been coloured with Promarkers, I used Blush, Spice, Saffron, Vanilla, Pastel Yellow, Rose Pink & Pastel Green pens. Finally I stamped the words onto white cardstock using Ranger Archival Black Ink, cut them out, inked the edges with Black Soot Distress ink again & glued them to the tags….

3 tags, in 20 minutes, I was impressed, I never usually work that quickly, I think I’ll be doing more tags in future as it really kickstarted my creativity.

The Sarah Hurley Lookbook volume 3 is bursting with crafty inspiration from all of Sarah’s DT, you can see the whole lookbook online here.

Well that’s all from me for today, my plans for the evening involve getting DD ready for bed & emptying the contents of my head into various notebooks & making lists.

Thanks for stopping by, it’s been lovely to see you & thanks for taking the time to leave lovely comments, it’s always much appreciated & they always make me smile.

Take care, have a lovely evening & hope to see you soon.

Shades of Blue Challenge

Evening all :)

There was a new challenge over on the Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog last Thursday…. I’m a bit behind I know…

This months challenge theme was set by the lovely Nicole & the theme is…

Shades Of Blue

Here is my blue creation…

shades of blue

I used some Tando Creative gothic arches, I painted the back panel black, then coated it with Tim Holtz Broken China Crackle paint the rubbed it over with Black Soot Distress Ink. The arches were glued together &  painted with Fresco Finish Ice Blue paint. I added silver star sequins to the back panel & coated the arches in really fine white glitter & added some seed beads too. I used Sarah’s Dream a Little Dream stamp set, the girl is coloured with Promakers (Blush, Vanilla, Saffron, Arctic Blue & Blender pen) & used 3d foam pads to attach her to the panel. I stamped the words Dream a Little Dream onto cardstock, cut them out & coated them with Glossy Accents & attached them to the outside of the arches…

Finally I took one of the tiny glass bottles from Sarah’s Embellishment packs, filled it with glitter & glued it into position next to the girl…

***Tip: when filling a little bottle with glitter, glue  the stopper into the bottle afterwards… trust me on this lol****
